Sister Captain Emeritus Shirley Muhammad

As a wife and mother of 5 Sister Shirley modeled the teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the home. Shirley first heard the teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1957 with her husband Brother Don at Muhammad’s Temple of Islam No. 11 in Boston Massachusetts. A fiery young Minister Louis Farrakhan would be their introduction to the world of wisdom and faith in Allah (God). She rose in the ranks of the M.G.T. & G.C.C. as a no-nonsense person when it came to the Law of Islam but also compassionate when needed. No task was too small as she worked alongside the sisters in the kitchen or cleaning the mosque. Therefore, as she transitioned from team leader, to lieutenant, and captain the sisters always worked well with her because they knew she was helping them to become the women Allah wanted them to be.
When The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan set about the task of rebuilding the work of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Sister Shirley was one of those tapped to help teach the women of Allah in the M.G.T. & G. C.C. class. She was one of those who stood rostrum post for the beloved Minister Farrakhan at Madison Square Garden. Often, she was assigned the task of setting up the sister security for the Minister as he traveled and spoke in various cities.
She worked with her husband to establish a family business and was actively involved in the welfare of her children. After the family business was up and running, she branched off as an entrepreneur into the science of Iridology and opened a flourishing shop that catered to the wellness of people in the community. She wove a pattern of duty to family with duty to mosque eloquently.
Allah accepted Shirley Muhammad February 21, 2021 from her daughter’s home
